Howdy Fringe Lovers! Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday full of sleeping in, brunching and binge watching reality T.V. Those were my typical Sundays when I was living in N.Y.C. and working in the fashion industry. By Sunday evening, I would watch whatever HBO television show was playing and then The Monday Blues would set in...
Most likely, I was not looking forward to the chaos awaiting me. It was a fast paced work environment indeed. I was in meetings and presentations literally all day. I would just swing by my corner desk and dump things wherever they wouldn't slide off. I certainly had the most disorganized corner of the design room which consisted of a mountain of vintage clothes, presentation boards, trim samples and lab dips ... Those days I could never find anything and was ill prepared for meetings, I would forget samples or not find them fast enough.
But then one day it ALL changed when my co-workers had an intervention...
... so I hiked over to The Container Store and bought some bins (with the company credit card) and I actually put stuff in them! It was heaven. Taking a day to do this made all the difference! Once I started treating my workspace with love and respect, I felt more creative, on top of things and enjoyed the day. And you better believe I knew EXACTLY where that crotchet bikini top was that my VP of Design wanted !!
So get your Sh*t together! Organize your workspace to get you through the work day and enjoy being there!! Here are some of my favorite inspirations and design tips! So have no fear this post is going to inspire you and turn your work week around. Love, Lasso
I am really digging this set up!! Shelves, cute baskets, wood bins and a steer! Back in the day, I used plastic bins and was armed with a p-touch but this adds a much cozier vibe to the work environment. Lovin it!
Ohhhh plants I love you! Adding some green to your work space gives you oxygen and room to breath. And if you don't have direct sunlight, don't worry succulents will totally thrive in most spaces.
Green will add life and good vibes to your surroundings.
Bring some fun things from home to add good vibes to your workspace. I've always loved bringing in textiles and
cool knick knacks to make my desk feel inviting. My last full-time position in L.A. I had my own office and I decorated it with a vintage rug and shearling. Everyone loved it and my co-workers
were always knocking on my door to say Hey! It was a popular hide out...
Having some fun desk accessories sure does get me to put things back in their place. And sometimes you don't even have to go out and buy a ton of new stuff. Get creative and have fun. Loving the mason supply jar!
Having a inspiration // mood // or vision board will definitely lift your spirits and ignite your passion. It is also a great way of setting intent for your wants and dreams.
When I worked at Ralph Lauren in NYC, I had above my desk, tears of a home in Los Angeles, my first fringy pillow sketches (that I randomly drew based on a cute RL bag I owned) and and lots of double denim inspo.
And omg I now live in Los Angeles, design fringy things and I was moved out here to work for a jeans company!
Plus I wear double denim on the daily.
I currently run Lasso Abode out of my home in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. Below are my favorite items to organize your workspace and make it feel fresh and inviting. Some of my favorite places for organization are Target, CB2 and The Container Store. For furniture I love CB2 and West Elm. Ikea has great shelves and desks too!
Another tip is art stores, some larger chains have furniture and great organizational finds!
